Stuart Shepherd, Manager Nutrition & Technical Integration Group
When he joined New-Life Mills, Stuart brought with him extensive experience working with and managing dynamic teams in the Feed Industry both nationally and internationally. As Manager of the Nutrition & Technical Integration Group at New-Life Mills, he says he is “extremely proud to be working with such a talented and diverse group of people dedicated to our customers, their animals and the industry”. He and his team endeavor to provide the best possible inputs and services to our customers by continuing to be leaders in the introduction of new technology and products in nutrition, animal health and management. His team, based out of Cambridge, Ontario, consists of:
Whitney Perry, Data Management Specialist, B.Sc.
Whitney plays a dual role at New-Life Mills, Regional Sales Office Manager and as the company’s Data Management Specialist. Working with Production, Sales and Nutrition staff, she ensures the data required to formulate, produce and label feed is in place and accurate. She has been with New-Life Mills since 1993, after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from the University of Guelph. In her spare time, Whitney is an avid reader, crafter and fitness enthusiast.
Jennifer McLeod, Quality Assurance Coordinator
Jennifer is the Quality Assurance Coordinator responsible for facilitating the delivery of the New-Life Mills Quality Assurance and FeedAssure ® (HACCP based) program. After graduation from Fanshawe College with her 3.5 year Science Laboratory Technology Diploma, she has gained over 10 years providing Quality Assurance services to the manufacturing/food industry. She is an active member of American Society for Quality (ASQ), Guelph Food Technology (NSF/GFTC) and now the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC). She was previously employed at Labatt Breweries and took on various roles such as the back-up HACCP Coordinator, Packaging Quality Specialist and Microbiologist. In Jennifer’s spare time, she loves to travel, spend time with family and as much time as possible outdoors.
Jim Blackman, Poultry Nutritionist, Ph.D.
Jim has more than 25 years of experience providing technical services and research solutions to the feed industry in Canada. After graduating from the University of Guelph, Jim worked in the Poultry/Feed Industry before returning to graduate school. Jim then completed a Master of Science in Animal Science at the University of Arkansas, and a doctoral program in Poultry Nutrition at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is an active member of the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), the Poultry Science Association and World Poultry Science Association. Jim enjoys interacting with colleagues in all facets of the poultry and feed industries, and his spare time is spent in family and community activities.
Lisa Hodgins, Monogastric Nutritionist, M.Sc.
Lisa is responsible for providing poultry technical support for the New-Life Mills Sales Team and to customers across Canada. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and her Master’s Degree in Poultry Nutrition from the University of Guelph. Lisa is an active member within the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada and is a member of the Poultry Science Association. When not working and spending time with her husband and two children she is a competitive equestrian on the provincial hunter/jumper circuit.
Kathleen Shore, Ruminant Nutritionist, M.Sc.
Kathleen is the Ruminant Nutritionist for New-Life Mills. She is a graduate from the University of Guelph with a Masters in Ruminant Nutrition. Kathleen works together with on-farm technical representatives to ensure high quality rations are formulated and delivered to promote on-farm success. She is also an active member within the industry sitting on Nutrition Committees both at a National and Provincial level as well as taking part in planning local conferences to promote educational/professional development opportunities. When not working, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her husband and children and in really quiet moments loves to steal some time to read!
Megan Ross, Monogastric Nutrition Associate, M.Sc.
Megan Ross is the Monogastric Nutrition Associate with New-Life Mills. Megan completed a B.Sc. (Agr.) at the University of Guelph, after which she moved to Saskatoon to complete a M.Sc. in Poultry Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan. She is now working in the Nutrition and Technical Integration department alongside the nutritionists, sales team, and research and development department in a variety of areas relating to customer service, formulation, and data management. Outside of work, Megan enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Lisa MacGregor, Ruminant Formulator, M.Sc.
Lisa is a Ruminant Formulator with New-Life Mills. She is a recent graduate from the University of Guelph and has completed her Masters in Dairy Nutrition. Lisa was previously employed by Nutreco/Trouw at the Burford Research Station as a research assistant in monogastrics. Lisa now works closely with our Ruminant Nutritionist to help adjust formulas and move them through our pre-production systems.
Ran Xu, Monogastric Formulator, M.Sc.
Ran is a Monogastric Formulator with New-Life Mills. She is a recent graduate of the University of Guelph and has completed her masters in Mathematical Modelling. Ran’s functions will be to assist with formulation and tags and get them loaded into our system. She will be fully trained in our formulation software and tagging programs. She will also assist with sorting bird performance data as well as data from our R&D trials.
