Nutrition Department of New-Life Mills

Dr. Daniel Ganesh

Dan is Manager of Nutrition and Technical Services for Feed Division. At the University of Guelph, Dan completed a Master of Science in Beef Production Systems, worked as a Research Associate and then completed his Ph.D. in Dairy Cattle Nutrition. He worked for ten years as a ruminant nutritionist and manager at United Cooperatives of Ontario, GROWMARK and Land O’Lakes before joining New-Life Mills in 1999.

Besides managing the Nutrition group, Dan is responsible for all aspects related to beef and dairy cattle nutrition, and is actively involved in the swine nutrition, quality control, GMP and HACCP programs at New-Life Mills. He has completed several sales training programs, and completed courses in HACCP and GMPs. He has chaired the Nutrition Committee of the Ontario Agribusiness Association and is currently chairing an ad-hoc Committee dealing with an emergency disease response plan for the Feed Industry. He is an active member of the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), and is a member of the American Association of Animal Scientists (ASAS), Canadian Animal Science Society (CSAS) and American Dairy Science Association (ADSA).  

Dan enjoys interacting with colleagues in agribusiness and with producers.  He is a soccer enthusiast, and has coached for several years at the Rep level for the city of Guelph.

 

Dr. Jim Blackman

Jim is the Poultry Nutritionist for the Feed Division.  After graduating from the University of Guelph, Jim worked in the poultry/feed industry before returning to graduate school.  Jim completed a Master of Science in Animal Science at the University of Arkansas and a doctoral program in poultry nutrition at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  He has 20 years of experience, providing technical services and research solutions to the feed industry in Canada.  

He is an active member of the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), and is a member of the Poultry Science Association and World Poultry Science Association.  

Jim enjoys interacting with colleagues in all facets of the poultry and feed industries.  His spare time is spent in community and family activities. 

 

Whitney Aitken

Whitney plays a dual role at New Life Mills, that of Regional Sales Office Manager and as Feed Formulator in the Nutrition Department.  She came to New-Life Mills in the fall of 1993 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Guelph.

Aside from her managerial responsibilities in the Cambridge Office, Whitney is responsible for the day to day management of formulation and product labelling.

When not working, Whitney enjoys yoga, is an avid reader and spends much of her time with her dogs.
